Confirmation Retreat 2017

January 14, 2017

What a great night we are having!!! This is such a great group and we are having so much fun!

We have played games, had classes, worshiped together, and spent some time alone with God. As I am typing this everyone is gearing up for an epic game of Spoons! It is a great weekend!

In class we made covenants with one another about how we will treat each other. We also talked about God's plan for us. We explored the problem of sin and evil as well as the gift of grace. We talked about how the word "sin" is an old archery term that means "to miss the mark so as to miss out on the prize". We threw magnetic darts at targets and talked about missing the mark and how we all do that in our own lives. We also did an activity with flash paper. It was really powerful! Ask your student about it. The good news is that Jesus came to save us from our sins. We have been justified through Christ.

After our worship time we spent time alone with God, reading Scripture in our new Bibles, and reading letters that the mentors had written to each student.

Tomorrow we will have our third class and be commissioned at the 11:15 am worship service.

Also, the Parent Track class starts tomorrow at 8:30 am in Alderman Hall. We will take an in-depth look at what the students are learning as well as talk about how to interact with your child as he/she discovers his/her own faith.

Continue to pray for and with your child throughout the Confirmation process. This is a meaningful and holy time in a faith story!
