Another great day at eXtreme retreat!February 18, 2017
Today was an amazing day!
There was lots of talk this morning about how great breakfast was at all of our host homes and how much fun they had last night! Our host homes and leaders are AMAZING!!!! I cannot tell you how grateful I am for all the volunteers and leaders it takes to make this weekend such a success!
This morning we had a powerful lesson from Randy about the woman at whom everyone was going to throw rocks, but Jesus told them only the ones who had not sinned could throw the rocks. Randy challenged us to think about all the ways we throw rocks in our everyday lives. He then held up a mirror and told us that the worst rocks were the ones we threw at ourselves. He had a bucket of rocks on the stage and invited us to put our rocks at the foot of the cross. It was a reminder that in Christ Jesus we are made clean.
At lunch we got to have SMILEY FRIES!!! My favorite!!! Our cooks for the weekend are PHENOMANAL! We are so grateful to Canita and Howard and their team!
At lunch we also got to meet Jeff Meyers, our new senior pastor. The students got to ask him questions and he hung around for awhile after that to get to know the students a little better.
After lunch was free time and the ESCAPE ROOM! Several of our groups managed to escape in time.... others not so much. But overall I think the students had a really good time at that activity.
After dinner was the infamous lip sync battle. It was soooo fun! Runners up were 6th grade boys and 8th grade girls. Winners were senior guys and seventh grade girls. The junior guys are still contesting the outcome... they really wanted that victory!
Tonight Randy talked about the four friends who lowered their paralyzed friend through the roof so that he could see Jesus. He asked questions about who is our squad? Will they help point us to Jesus? And when we are looking for healing, where do we turn? Do we look to Jesus? It was a powerful night. Randy has been a really great speaker!
Tomorrow morning at 9:45 am Randy will share his last talk with us. All parents are invited! We want you to get to experience a little piece of how great this weekend has been!
