A Letter to the Congregation - Youth Staff UpdateMarch 08, 2017
Dear RPC Congregation,
I wanted to send you good news from our Youth Staff Search Committee!
We are so blessed to have such a strong legacy in our youth ministry and we intend to build from that strength and expand it into the future. The next stage of that journey begins with hiring two full-time youth staff members to join our RPC team.
Jaymi Hendrix will begin on Sunday, March 19 as our Director of Youth Small Groups. Jaymi grew up in Florida and attended Daytona State College. Most recently, she has been serving at Perimeter Church, where she works as a JHi Bricks Resident. The JHi program hosts around 250 students each week and Jaymi is an integral part in overseeing that program.
Robby Cella will begin in June as our Director of Youth Programming. Robby is currently finishing up at Princeton Theological Seminary, where he is receiving a Masters of Divinity as well as a Masters of Arts in Christian Education. Before seminary, he attended University of Colorado and then served in several churches, including First Presbyterian Church of Aurora as the Director of Youth Ministry.
We are very excited about Jaymi and Robby and extremely grateful for the work of the committee who found them. Throughout each of their interview processes, they met with the committee, students, leaders, and our new Senior Pastor, Rev. Jeff Meyers. With every interaction, the committee was more and more affirmed that these were the right people for our team.
Jaymi and Robby are gifted, outgoing, active people who are committed to Christ and to students. Both have a deep faith, which is contagious. They are smart, strong, talented leaders who will be outstanding additions to our church family.
Even as we welcome Jaymi and Robby, we are grateful for the ministry and service of Drew Wilmesherr and Haley Griffis, both of whom will be stepping down from the youth ministry at RPC. We will say goodbye to Drew this summer. He has many gifts and we were so grateful to share in his vocational journey for even a short time. Haley's last day with us will be Sunday, March 19. We will celebrate her contributions to our ministry that morning in Sunday School and then she will join her family as they move back to Virginia. We wish her the very best as she moves on to new adventures!
Our youth ministry has gone through several months of transition and the committee is still working to fill the remaining position, but we are excited about the new work God will be doing through Jaymi and Robby. I know you will join me in welcoming them to Roswell Presbyterian Church!
** I will be hosting a ryeX Parent Meeting on Wednesday, March 22 at 6:30 p.m. in The Garage to talk about these exciting updates for the youth ministry at RPC.
